Happy New Year to everyone.
It’s been a few months now since the report, ‘Growing New Zealand’s Capital Markets 2029: a vision and growth agenda to promote stronger capital markets for all New Zealanders’ was released and we’ve seen a flurry of activity from relevant industry agencies and businesses beginning to unpack the recommendations.
The report states the ‘Private markets are working well and growing, but not necessarily serving the full range of New Zealand investors, nor the full range of investment stages.’
This brings us to the commonly-mentioned funding gap that exists for capital raises, $2 - $10 million, that is stalling business growth.
At Syndex we’re comfortable with this gap; it’s our sweet spot! We have numerous examples from the past year of supporting private businesses in securing capital in this range. In 2019 we raised over $30 million, predominantly from Issues within this ‘gap’.
Connecting businesses with our investor community is an important part of what we do. We’re revved up for 2020 and looking forward to supporting many more great private businesses.
